Why doesn\’t AON get some of their producers to cut back on their expense accounts. That way they could have plenty of money for their support staffs. The excesses I saw! The producers in my office would compete with each other to see how much they could put on their expense accounts. I was disgusted, especially because of the crappy raises I received.
Moving away from Aon was my best career move. I have never met anyone who moved from Aon and ever looked back. Most found better jobs, better working conditions in new homes. Good luck to the 1,800 who will be seeking new employment. Psst.The grass is greener on the other side.
Another money loser for Aon. Closed CA and PA offices to stop the bleeding. Other employees left (leaving) in droves. Aon was unsuccessful in selling this subsidary before.
Just heard that some experienced well paid claims people were laid off. Insurance world has not learned the clients appreciate the services given them by the worker bees that know them, not the faceless conglomerate that only gives a rip about getting new accts.
Another cost saving tip for AON: Quit getting yourselves in the middle of Lawsuits!! The money used in the settle ments could be an excellent raise on my paycheck!
Well I have been with the company for a short amount of time, less than six months, and I\’ve had just as many Project Managers/TeamLeaders/Pod Leader etc…The one thing that has really messed them up is how political they try to be…The townhall meetings pratically drove everyone to the doors, looking for Other Jobs. WAY TO GO KEN!!!
I not lost my job YET, but we never know from one day to the next. Raises are very crappy. With gas prices getting higher and higher each day, I wonder how mush longer I can drive a hour long comute each way and still aford to pay my house payment. Several people have been let go, I feel like they could have taken at least one yearly salary and gave the whole department a better raise than what we got.
I recently 4 months ago joined AON Dallas Office and was told there would be no lay-offs. To hear this is devastating. I was lied to by our HR Manager!!!
I barely know an Aon emp that isn\’t looking for a new job and many have found new jobs. At the rate it\’s going the only one\’s left will be the managers..
It is not a surprise to me the layoffs. I worked for 3 years in the winston office in Health & Welfare. Ken Haderer stood in front of all of us at a town hall meeting and said the \”new system\” we were buying was going to help Aon. He was pointedly asked was this new system being bought to then outsource our jobs? He stood there and lied to our faces and said no it is not this is to help keep your jobs. I still know and speak to a few people there and the area I worked in is being shut down and completely outsourced to India. There are only 7 people staying except the managers and gee they all get to keep their jobs. I worked 60 hours a week for more than 18 months. I am glad I left or I would be really mad. You could not even take a vacation because there were not enough people to cover your work. Aon means \”oneness\” in gaelic……oneness alright….the upper manangement all for one and one for themselves. Work you tail off for years and then take it in the shorts for people who have vacation homes and yachts.
A new piece of information for those interested. It was in the New York Times….Aon went and bought up another company spending 1.23 Billion dollars and now they intend to lay off 2600. So the number just gets higher….They can afford to pay 1.23 Billion to buy up another company but they can\’t afford to keep people that have worked their tails off for years for them. It seems to me this is the trend buy up your competitors and then outsource existing jobs plus the new companies employees overseas. Then companies wonder why employees are no longer loyal to them…why should you be either you will be laid off and have your job go overseas or you will end up working for years and have either the company go under due to bad business choices(ie aon lawsuits, stupid spending) or they will spend your pension.
I have worked at AON throughout the process of Offshoring, It has had its bumps in the road, but is working well. We have done this to ourselves, we HAVE to make tons of money each year just to survive. AON is doing well, and will continue. I love my job there and wouldnt trade it for anything. PS. I am not in management, I just worked my *** off to show them that I care about my job, and the company. They retained the people who were not dead weight, all companies go through a layoff period, to get rid of people who they pay, and they do nothing to help the company.
We were lied to about our jobs being outsourced to India, and then AON had the people from India training right in our department while we were still working…
Talk about slap in the face, after years of hard work and dedication working longs hours getting certificates and id card out to the client on time… oh well
I was fortunate enought to be somewhere else before these layoffs. So poorly managed at management level, easy to see what was coming.
Offshoring is not trimming the fat but an excuse by manangement for their failures, especially when replacing departments of folks who were great performers.
Aony made money with HR Outsourcing until they did two things wrong:
1. Hired Ken Haderer. Companies he worked at are still trying to fix the damage he caused. I have never met a more political manager who cares so little about anyone other than himself. A more polished snake you will not find.
2. Waste millions every year on HR Portal. Could have used previous web platform and built out much cheaper but instead spent (and continue to spend) millions buiding and supporting environment. Too late now but could have saved a bundle about 6 years ago.
Want to save jobs and money at Aon? Fire Ken Haderer. He has a proven record of destroying departments and this is no exception. However, he is so polished politically that management does not see it until too late. The leadership at Aon is dissapointing in that is still can be fooled by his lies….usually he has already been fired or layed off by now.
This will include the \”Irish Mafia\” and other members of the \”good ol\’ boys\” club
