Guy Carpenter & Company, the risk and reinsurance specialist of the Marsh & McLennan Companies, has appointed Ajay Junnarkar as Chief Financial Officer. He will lead the firm’s Finance and Corporate Services departments, “helping to shape Guy Carpenter’s financial strategies and further its capital markets capabilities,” reporting directly to CEO David Spiller.
“Ajay has outstanding depth and breadth of hands-on financial, strategic and operational experience that we will draw on as we continue to broaden our platform and develop our capital markets resources,” Spiller noted. “I look forward to working with him as a key member of our senior management team.”
Junnarkar assumes the responsibilities previously held by Phil Petronis, who has been appointed Chief Operating Officer for Marsh Products and Services Management.
Prior to joining Guy Carpenter in 2006, Junnarkar was Director in the Strategic Development Group at the Marsh & McLennan Companies, where he worked closely with the firm’s various operating companies to evaluate potential acquisitions. In addition, he was involved in developing operating company and overall MMC strategic plans. Before joining MMC, he worked in the hedge fund industry and at Goldman Sachs. He began his career in the forensic accounting division at Kroll.
Junnarkar holds an MBA from Columbia University, as well as a Master of Accounting and Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. He is also a chartered accountant in Canada.
