Willis Group Holdings announced the opening of a new captive management operation, Willis Management (Malta) Ltd. “This expansion is in response to growing captive insurer and third party writer opportunities, as Malta establishes itself as a leading financial center,” said the bulletin.
Willis named Mark Bromell, Managing Director of the new Malta operation, and indicated that Biffa has signed up as its first client. The FTSE 250 Company, which was recently taken private, is an integrated waste management business based in the UK. It has been a client of Willis Corporate Risk Solutions in London, and “took advantage of the broker’s integrated client service approach to utilize its Captive expertise and fast-tracked their decision to establish operations in Malta,” said Willis.
Malcolm Cutts-Watson, Chairman of Willis’ International Captive Practice, reiterated that “Malta is a fast growing domicile and we intend to be part of its success.”
