Marsh to Open 5th China Branch Office

December 17, 2008

Marsh announced that it has received regulatory approval to set up a branch office in Dalian, the largest city in China’s Liaoning province.

“The new office is the fifth branch office outside of Beijing for Marsh (Beijing) Insurance Brokers Co. Ltd. (Marsh China), following previous approvals from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) for branch offices in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Hebei province,” said the bulletin. “Marsh was awarded China’s first ever Wholly-Owned Foreign Enterprise (WOFE) insurance broking license in January 2007.”

Marsh China CEO Tony Lau commented: “This is excellent news for both our clients in China and around the world. The new branch office allows us to provide a broad range of insurance broking and risk advisory services in Liaoning province, an important equipment manufacturing, mining, logistics and shipbuilding center.

“The demand for risk management and insurance services is increasing rapidly in China, as companies manage through this period of global economic uncertainty. We look forward to helping our clients find ways to minimise the impact of the downturn through risk management in this important industrial region.

“Marsh offers a unique combination of local knowledge backed by global expertise. We are confident there will be strong demand for risk advisory and insurance broking services in this region. It is clear that risk is the top priority for companies heading into 2009, and we look forward to helping clients turn that risk into opportunity.”
