CGM Gallagher Appoints Tomlin and Rocheford to Sr. Management Positions

The CGM Gallagher Group, one of the largest and oldest insurance brokers in the English-speaking Caribbean, announced that it has appointed William Tomlin as President following Thursday’s meeting of the Group’s board.

Tomlin will also act as “senior advisor on key accounts throughout the Group’s extensive Caribbean operations and expanding the scope of his role from Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean to include Jamaica and the Northern Caribbean,” said the bulletin.

Before assuming his new role, Tomlin served as Chairman of CGM Gallagher Insurance Brokers (Barbados) Limited; as well as a director on the boards of the Group’s St. Lucia and St. Vincent subsidiaries. He remains committed to his board obligations going forward.

The bulletin also noted that “Tomlin is the founder of CGM, the Barbadian broker which merged with Jamaican broker International Insurance Brokers (IIB) in 2004, to create the CGM Group, and later the CGM Gallagher Group. He has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry and is on the Board of a number of insurance and reinsurance companies operating from the Barbados offshore insurance industry.”

The Group’s CEO Matthew Pragnell cited Tomlin’s “long-standing relationship with the Group,” and his experience in the “servicing of our large Barbados and Eastern Caribbean clients,” as indicative of his abilities.

The Group’s board also announced the promotion of John Rocheford to the position of Executive Chairman of the company’s Barbados operations and General Manager of the Group’s St. Lucia and St. Vincent outfits. He has been with Group for over 25 years and has been integral in the successful merger and expansion of the company. Prior to this appointment Rocheford served as Senior Vice President, Group Employee Benefits, he also holds directorships on the St. Lucia and St. Vincent boards.

The bulletin also pointed out that the “Group is one of the Caribbean’s first, true, regional insurance brokers with offices in Jamaica, Barbados, St. Vincent and St. Lucia; licenses in Grenada, Antigua, Anguilla and Dominica and correspondents in Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, the ABC Islands and Puerto Rico.”
