Catlin UK Launches ‘BusinessAssist’ for SME Disaster Recovery

May 12, 2011

Catlin UK, a subsidiary of Catlin Group Limited, announced that it has “teamed with risk mitigation and loss reduction specialist Global Continuity” to include an enhanced disaster recovery plan, “BusinessAssist,” in its property insurance policies tailored for small to medium size UK businesses (SME’s).

“BusinessAssist is designed to allow businesses to continue to operate in the event of loss or damage at their premises,” Catlin explained. It can provide “an impacted business within one day with replacement offices; emergency telephone switching; technology recovery; and print, fax and copy capabilities.”

The enhanced service is “aimed specifically at SMEs, and has been developed by Global Continuity, which has provided recovery services to clients for nearly 20 years.”

Dan Martin, Catlin UK’s Regional Property Manager explained: “Most SMEs cannot afford expensive disaster recovery and business continuity services, so it is not surprising that their claims after a disaster can be substantial.

“We believe that partnering with BusinessAssist will help businesses operate, maintain relationships and build confidence following a calamity.” It is a “powerful enhancement to our suite of UK insurance products. It even covers typically uninsured risks such as telephone failure, protecting against more than headline disasters such as fire and flooding.”
