Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) Malaysia announced that it has acquired Insfield Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd, one of the country’s major insurance brokers. The terms of the deal were not announced.
“Over the years, Insfield has built a highly regarded business within the insurance sector in Malaysia, covering a range of classes – Marine, Energy, Media, Manufacturing, Financial Lines and Employee Benefits,” JLT said, adding that it has a particularly strong presence in the Marine sector.
Managing Director of JLT Singapore and Malaysia, Goh Chye Huat, commented: “The acquisition of Insfield fulfills JLT Malaysia’s strategic blueprint in a number of ways. It enables JLT Malaysia to establish an immediate footprint in the marine offshore sector, which supports our intention of expanding our marine specialism to more countries in Asia. Combined with Singapore’s established track record in offshore marine support, we are poised to assume a position of leadership in this important sector regionally.”
JLT Asia CEO Duncan Howorth added: “JLT is always seeking high quality targets with sustainable business models and who share our commitment to a ‘Client First’ service approach. Insfield’s presence in several key industries, coupled with JLT’s international reputation and own long practice history in the country will position us strongly in this emerging market.
“JLT’s Group Strategy is to strengthen its specialisms and service propositions in countries where it is operating, and to become the market leader in its selected areas of focus,” Howarth continued. “Malaysia is an emerging market with a range of vibrant indigenous industries. Insurance knowledge and sophistication is growing, making it an exciting time for JLT to be present in this market.”
