Lockton Companies announced that Matthew Gooda has joined its London operations as Mining Advocate, Senior Vice President. He will advise global mining clients on insurance and risk management. The bulletin said “Gooda’s expertise will help promote Lockton’s position in the mining industry by developing innovative insurance programs and providing technical advice to existing and new clients.”
He joins Lockton from the major multi-national miner Anglo American plc, where his responsibilities included both risk financing programs and the management of complex and high-value insurance claims. Anglo American is the world’s largest miner of diamonds and platinum and has significant positions in the bulk commodities and base metals.
Gooda’s experience includes placement design and claims management in both operational asset insurances and multi-billion dollar construction risks, as well as the management of an unbundled risk engineering program
Simon Scholfield, Partner and Head of Property for Lockton Companies, LLP, welcomed Gooda to the firm, citing his “technical knowledge and experience in the mining segment,” which he said would “add significant depth to our mining capabilities.”
