December 2, 2014

XL Group’s global Insurance operation announced the appointment of Tim Pitt to the newly created role of Head of Data, Analytics and Pricing to help drive XL Group’s data, analytics and pricing strategies and best practices across its global insurance operation.

He is based in London, reporting to Susan Cross, XL Group plc’s Global Chief Actuary. She commented: “We continue to sharpen our focus on our data strategies across the organization and look to provide even more meaningful context to the business decisions we make. Tim will guide our data and analytics efforts forward with careful coordination across our global Insurance operations.”

Pitt will work closely with XL Group’s Insurance business leaders, especially Chris Dougherty, XL Insurance’s Head of Underwriting and Ceded Re as well as Kimberly Holmes, Head of Strategic Analytics. Other new responsibilities include oversight of XL Group’s Data Model, data quality, and pricing across its global insurance segment.

Greg Hendrick, Chief Executive of XL Group’s Global Insurance Operations, explained that the information and data available to us “is growing exponentially every day. Harnessing the right data and making it available to our businesses to make informed underwriting, pricing and operational decisions will help us adapt quickly to market challenges and deliver the products that our clients need.”

Pitt joined XL Group as a pricing actuary team leader in 2006 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in Actuarial and Finance. He served as program leader for XL’s Enterprise Management Information program from 2010 to 2012 and has led the development of XLAPS, the insurance segment’s pricing tool framework since 2011. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
