AEGIS London announced that Stuart Davies, the company’s managing director, has resigned to take up the group CEO role at Canopius.
At Canopius, Davies succeeds Michael Watson who remains the company’s chairman. As group chief executive officer, Davies will assume executive responsibility for all of Canopius’s business operations worldwide, Canopius said.
Davies leaves AEGIS after 10 years at the helm and leaves the company in great health with a strong management team overseeing Syndicate 1225, consistently one of the most profitable syndicates in Lloyd’s, AEGIS London said in a statement. AEGIS London is a subsidiary of AEGIS (Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Services Limited), a mutual insurance company for the energy industry.
At AEGIS, David Croom-Johnson (currently the active underwriter of Syndicate 1225) has immediately taken up the role of interim managing director and John Chambers (currently the deputy active underwriter) has assumed the role of interim active underwriter.
