Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Co. (BHSI) announced it is entering the accident & health (A&H) market in Asia, and appointed Phillip Brain as head of A&H in the region.
Brain comes to BHSI with nearly two decades of industry experience. He was most recently vice president, Accident & Health group manager, Asia Pacific, at Chubb. Before that, he was regional vice president and group accident & health manager, AIG Asia Pacific. Earlier in his career, he served in various A&H underwriting and product management roles at AIG in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
“Phillip has extensive experience in all aspects of the A&H space, from product underwriting and innovation, to technology,” said Marc Breuil, president, BHSI, Asia. “With his leadership, we look forward to establishing an A&H team that will provide employees and employers throughout Asia with meaningful tailored solutions, backed by BHSI’s service, stability and financial strength.”
BHSI said it will focus initially on broker-distributed group personal accident and business travel products, and will strategically expand its suite of A&H products over time.
