XL Catlin has appointed Claudia Thyme to the role of director, Emerging Markets Development. In this role, Thyme will contribute to XL Catlin’s emerging market strategies, with a particular focus on Latin America.
Thyme has 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry, 10 years of which have been spent at XL Catlin. In her new role she transfers from the Communications & Marketing team, where she was director Strategy & Business Groups.
Before joining XL in 2008, Thyme was with Zurich Insurance for 10 years, where she held senior roles including head of Communications & Marketing for the International Businesses Division and for the Growth Office. Thyme started her career as a communications and marketing consultant, advising companies and their boards on change management strategies.
She will be based in Zurich and report to Brendan Plessis, head of Emerging Market.
Plessis said XL Catlin sees “tremendous opportunities in a number of high growth markets to help build resilience by driving (re)insurance penetration.”
