This is a sad state of affairs – not that young consumers are willing to give their information away, but that they do not have the means to make this decision. They cannot afford insurance as it is.

Do you 35+ year olds not understand that all of your digital data is already been hacked, given away, and sold by these 3rd party vendors. They’re always listening and watching.

More information means more informed decision making which helps reduce risk. That’s underwriting and insurance 101. Integrity and transparency are the buzz words within our generation, which is a direct response to the ever growing list of celebrity and political scandals. Are there certain parts of my life that the general public does not deserve to know? Sure. But people today are more aware of living in ways that are not full of shady, shameful behaviors, and character traits that have to be hidden. It’s not info being used against you, as long as you are living within underwriting guidelines, it’s meant to be used for you.

Wow. Now that’s some scary thinking. There is a reason Europe is far more protective of privacy than we are – they don’t have Pollyanna thinking about the possibilities for government to abuse power. They lived it.

And it can happen again. Only naive Americans think the government will never abuse it’s power in potentially horrific ways.

Many Leftists in American think certain speech should be criminalized. Imagine if they ever get power.

Nah. I’m registered libertarian and subscribe to Austrian economics, which is based on individualism. Can’t stand government, but private companies competing for my business? Different story. Not every young person who went to college is a product of the acclaimed socialism machine.

I didn’t address economics at all.

I am talking about abuse of power. If you are a libertarian, you should be MOST concerned about the potential for government to abuse personal information.

Check out the IRS abuse under Obama. Now extend that to internet searches (Facebook?) for individual conservatives by the IRS.

Yes. and Russia hacked a government database. Oops, I mean Hillary’s private e-mail. And Facebook was hacked by whom again? How about Target? You think insurance companies have some lock down tactic no one else has thought of yet?

China has a huge hacking operation. Do you think the US government is so benign?

Giving up personal information to anyone is insane. (And all the while the media calls Trump Hitler; you trust Hitler now, do you?)

Actually, genius, they just have more regulations because they have people who have seen that more government power instead of corporate power is better for more people.

Millennial, you take naivety to a whole new level. Apparently, you didn’t notice that many large companies have been hacked and millions of people had their personal information released to very bad people intent on doing harm. Remember the famous Anthem Blue Cross hack not so long ago? I guess not since you seem so unaware and so trusting.

Note that these same people would also insist that no one should pay more for health insurance because of pre-existing conditions. Never mind that having heart disease, diabetes, cancer etc. naturally lead to having higher health care expenses over time. They seem to imagine that companies having access to more data will only mean their premiums go down, never up.
