AXA XL Promotes Wilson to Global Head of Portfolio Solutions

April 25, 2019

AXA XL announced the promotion of Charlotte Wilson to global head of portfolio solutions, with responsibility for developing and executing the team’s global strategy.

Wilson will be part of Philippe Gouraud’s Global Strategic Distribution team and will take up her new role on May 1. She will be based in London.

Portfolio solutions continues to be a key focus for AXA XL as increasingly brokers are looking to group a set of similar risks together and place them with a selected panel of insurers following a market tender process.

Wilson brings 17 years’ experience in insurance, having joined Sedgwick Insurance Brokers in 1996 as a graduate trainee. She went on to become a terrorism and political risk insurance broker, leaving Sedgwick (now Marsh) in 2002 to join Catlin Underwriting Agencies as an underwriting assistant in the Fine Art and Specie team. (Catlin was purchased by XL Group in 2015, which last year was purchased by AXA.)

Most recently, as underwriting manager, Wilson has overseen the continued growth of profitable business at AXA XL. Over the coming months, she will work to ensure a smooth handover and transition of her current responsibilities and client relationships.

Philippe Gouraud, global head of Strategic Distribution at AXA XL, commented that Wilson’s experience in underwriting and structuring portfolio solution transactions will help streamline “the placement of homogenous risks through a whole range of portfolio underwriting approaches.”
