In part, they did. But why is there little rainfall? THINK before you reply.

Really? Speed of melt, tributaries and their geography, weather and temperatures, upstream use…….I mean come on dude little common sense before u put finger to button.

The article didn’t focus on any such reasons.

Glacial melt does not DIRECTLY feed tributaries of the Rhine River. Hint: read farther below.

Dredging didn’t work? Then it’s time for shipping companies to take extended vacations.

if the glaciers are shrinking because they’re melting then why on earth would river levels be lower??
also, is there a damn built for this river or is this just all natural? if not sounds like its time to invest in building a damn to keep water levels where they need them.

Don’t expect a cogent answer to your valid question. Clouds carry water to ALL parts of the globe, including tributaries of the Rhine River. More water in liquid and gaseous form – from melted glaciers in Polar Regions (to which I am an occasional visitor) means more clouds and more water carried by rainfall to tributaries of rivers and streams…. as well as oceans. But, I could be wrong… what do I know about atmospheric phenomena? It never rains in California, but girl don’t they warn ya?
