HDI Global Specialty Appoints Kangasniemi as Head of Airline

HDI Global Specialty SE, the specialty lines insurer, has promoted Frida Kangasniemi to the role of head of Airline. She replaces Thomas Broms in the role who retired at the end of last year.

Kangasniemi was previously head of General Aviation at the insurer and has 16 years’ experience working in the aviation market. She joined HDI Global Specialty (formerly Inter Hannover) from Willis Aerospace in 2009. Based in Stockholm, she and her team underwrite the worldwide airline portfolio of HDI Global Specialty SE.

“International Airline Insurance is the largest portfolio within HDI Global Specialty’s aviation business. We have been writing this out of Stockholm since 1970, thus celebrating our 50th anniversary this year,” said Mats Westerborn, managing director for HDI Global Specialty SE Scandinavian Branch, the main hub for aviation in the group.

“I am confident and pleased that we can build on the legacy of Thomas Broms’ long and successful career and pass the responsibility for this important portfolio to Frida’s capable hands,” he added.

HDI Global Specialty SE currently writes aviation business in its Stockholm, London, Cologne, Sydney and Toronto offices. HDI Global Specialty rolled-out operational activities on Jan. 1, 2019. HDI Global Specialty SE is a joint venture of Hannover Re and HDI Global SE, subsidiaries of the Talanx Group in Germany.
