The organizers of the reinsurance Rendez-Vous de Septembre (RVS) have decided to cancel this year’s conference as a result of the ongoing public health crisis caused by the pandemic.
“The pandemic is ongoing, but there is hope that the health crisis will enter its final phase in the second half of 2021, notably due to the vaccination campaigns being rolled out across the world,” said the RVS organizers in a statement.
As a result, the next RVS is expected to be held Sept. 10-14, 2022, in Monaco.
“The return to normal will be gradual, and the various restrictions in terms of movement and assembly should be lifted. But at the present time we cannot predict the exact timing of this ‘normalization,'” the statement continued.
In lieu of an in-person meeting, the organizing committee will hold conferences and roundtables on the insurance and reinsurance industry during the week of Sept. 13.
Last year’s RVS was also canceled.
Claude Tendil, president of the RVS, commented: “The guiding principle behind this decision was above all the safety of the women and men invited to attend the RVS. The professional encounters and the quality of the discussions that take place in Monte Carlo are irreplaceable; we have faith in 2022.”
