People Moves: AXIS Restructures Global Markets Team; Chaucer Taps Ray From Fidelis as Head of Renewable Energy and Energy Transition

This edition of International People Moves details appointments at AXIS Capital Holdings and Chaucer Group.

AXIS Restructures Global Markets Team

AXIS Capital Holdings Ltd., the Bermuda-based re/insurer, announced organizational changes to further enhance underwriting and operational performance within its AXIS Global Markets division.

The General Liability and International Casualty MGA teams, both based in London, are moving to report to Sarah Stephen who has been promoted to head of Liability. Stephen will report to Dax Gulmohamed. Gulmohamed extends his responsibilities to include oversight of all global markets liability in addition to professional lines and his role as CEO of AXIS Specialty Europe SE, AXIS’s European trading platform.

Gulmohamed and John Owen, head of Specialty, will now report to Rory MacGregor, head of Underwriting, Global Markets, in an expansion of his direct responsibilities for Global Markets underwriting lines.

The UK Property binder team will now sit within the Global Markets Property team (formerly Non-Marine) led by Steve Cross.

At the same time, Raj Brar, formerly head of International Casualty and Construction MGA, has been promoted to head of Construction, Global Markets. He succeeds Anna Woolley who leaves AXIS later this year to pursue new opportunities.

Sam Patrick has also been appointed to the new role of head of Global Markets Transformation. Previously head of Analytics and Innovation at AXIS, Patrick will report to Sara Farrup and work closely with the Global Markets leadership team to advance operational excellence, streamline underwriting processes, and enhance business responsiveness and product innovation.

A recruitment search is underway for the new position of head of Delegated Strategy, which will report to Farrup and oversee the leadership and development of all coverholder and MGA businesses within Global Markets.

Chaucer Taps Ray From Fidelis as Head of Renewable Energy and Energy Transition

Chaucer Group, the global specialty re/insurance group, announced the appointment of Jordan Ray as head of Renewable Energy and Energy Transition, effective immediately.

Ray is based in London and reports to Simon Schnorr, head of Marine and Energy.

In close collaboration with Schnorr, Ray will spearhead the development of Chaucer’s underwriting strategy for the renewables energy portfolio, while also managing her team. Additionally, within the energy team she will drive strategic initiatives and deliver cross-class solutions to support clients’ energy transition goals.

Ray brings over a decade of underwriting experience to Chaucer. She joins from The Fidelis Partnership, where she served as head of Renewable Energy for four years. Prior to that, she spent five years as a property treaty underwriter at Agora Syndicate 3268, following a similar role at Tamesis DUAL.
