Insurance broker Aon plc announced the launch of its Data Center Lifecycle Insurance Program (DCLP), a proprietary multi-line insurance facility designed to help clients manage risk across every stage of data center development and operations.
As global investment in digital infrastructure surges, driven by artificial intelligence, cloud computing and rising demand for computing capacity, clients face increasingly complex risk profiles. DCLP delivers an integrated solution that spans construction, cargo, cyber and operational exposure under one coordinated program, Aon said, noting that the result is greater capital efficiency, faster execution and stronger resilience across infrastructure projects.
“Today’s data centers are the backbone of the global economy,” said James MacNeal, global industry specialty leader of construction and infrastructure for Aon. “Our Data Center Lifecycle Insurance Program empowers clients to make better decisions, moving faster and more confidently, with protection that evolves alongside strategic assets, from physical infrastructure to digital operations.”
Key features of the DCLP:
- Up to $1.5 billion in coverage for construction all-risks, delay in start-up, and operational property damage/business Interruption,
- Construction cyber physical damage up to $400 million, including construction non-damage cyber and operational cyber and tech errors & omissions,
- Third-party liability coverage up to $100 million (excluding U.S. exposures),
- Project cargo and transport insurance up to $500 million,
- Integrated risk engineering and cyber impact modeling through Aon’s Global Risk Consulting team.
By unifying traditionally fragmented coverage across multiple lines of business, DCLP aims to enable clients to reduce friction in procurement, accelerate project timelines and enhance investor confidence, Aon said. The facility also integrates advanced risk engineering and cyber impact modeling to help clients anticipate, quantify, and respond to emerging threats across both physical and digital domains.
Coordinated Solution
As the scale and criticality of digital infrastructure grow, clients need coordinated solutions that align insurance protection with operational performance and stakeholder expectations. DCLP is intended to help clients navigate today’s risk environment by consolidating coverage, surfacing insight earlier in the development cycle and providing the tools to mitigate loss before they escalate.
“Data centers are no longer just physical assets, they are platforms for innovation, connectivity and economic growth,” said Brian Hearst, managing director of construction for Aon. “DCLP reflects our commitment to helping clients shape better decisions, protect what matters most and build enduring infrastructure for a more digital world.”
