The Kansas Insurance Department was awarded accreditation this week at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) winter national meeting in Chicago.
Hawaii, North Carolina and Ohio also received accreditation at this year’s meeting. Currently, 47 states, as well as the District of Columbia, are accredited.
The accreditation standard requires that insurance departments have adequate statutory and administrative authority to regulate an insurer’s corporate and financial affairs, that they have the necessary resources to carryout that authority, and that the departments have in place organizational and personnel practices designed for effective regulation.
