Michigan-based Amerisure Insurance, a regional property and casualty insurance group, reported strong operating results for the year 2001, with net income of $15.9 million and a surplus increase of $9.6 million. Direct written premiums were $422.9 million for the year; a 25 percent increase over year 2000 results.
At the forefront of these successes was the company’s Partners for Success(SM) (PFS) program for independent agencies. At Dec. 31, 2001, premium income from participating PFS agencies totaled $263.1 million, or 64 percent of total direct written premiums.
Overall, the company achieved a combined ratio of 108.5 percent for 2001, reflecting a noticeable improvement over the 113.2 percent tallied in 2000.
