The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) announced a Summit County woman has pled guilty to workers’ compensation fraud.
Tammy Bird is scheduled for sentencing on July 6, 2004, in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas. It is estimated that Bird defrauded BWC of $3,090.01.
BWC’s special investigations unit (SIU) learned of Bird’s possible fraud when the bureau’s automated detection & intelligence team (AD&I) administered a cross match with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The SIU confirmed she was working for Lynn’s Bar and RJ’s Pub as a bartender while reportedly receiving temporary total disability workers’ comp benefits.
Bird was injured on the job in March 2001. She suffered an injury to her right wrist while working for West Akron North America Ltd.
