Missouri Employers Mutual said recently the average workers’ compensation insurance base rate will decrease by 5 percent for new and renewal business, starting Jan. 1, 2006.
The workers’ comp insurer cited the company’s performance and an anticipated positive impact of the workers’ comp law changes on the cost of insurance as the main reasons for the reduced rates. It said the company’s loss experience is better than the industry average, attributing it to fewer claims.
Columbia, Mo.-based MEM is a mutual insurance company. It has offices in Kansas City, Springfield and St. Louis.
