Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company announced today the retirement of Donna A. James as president of Nationwide Strategic Investments. James’ retirement will become effective March 31, 2006. James has been employed by Nationwide for 25 years. She was elected president in 2003.
As president of Nationwide Strategic Investments, Columbus, Ohio, James is responsible for directing the management of several Nationwide affiliates, including GatesMcDonald, Nationwide Advantage Mortgage Company, Nationwide Health Plans, Financial Settlement Services and Nationwide Mutual Capital.
Prior to her role as president, James was Nationwide’s executive vice president and chief administrative officer with oversight of human resources, corporate communications and corporate administration. In an earlier role, she served as assistant to the chairman and CEO. She joined Nationwide in 1981. James is on the boards of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc. and Limited Brands, Inc. and was a former board member for both the United Way of America and Bennett College. She is an advisor for the North Carolina A&T State University School of Business.
