A new survey by an Iowa-based company, suggests that workers value “wellness” programs by employers as a necessary tool for the entire health insurance realm.
Most employees, according to the survey, rate insurance coverage right near the top of job-related concerns. For many, personal coverage or coverage for a family member even tops salary among the considerations.
More than 82 percent of those who are offered health education tools utilize them, while 68 percent whose employers offer wellness seminars attend. The findings were the result of an annual survey of more than 1,200 workers conducted by the Principal Financial Group Inc., based in Des Moines, Iowa.
Additional findings were that 81 percent of those surveyed said they participate in blood pressure checks at work, 73 percent had their cholesterol screened and 72 percent said they had completed online health screenings.
