Ohio State Auto Adds New System to Benefit Agent Force

January 25, 2007

Columbus, Ohio-based State Auto Insurance Cos. have
eliminated an automation roadblock for independent State Auto agencies using Applied Systems agency management systems.
State Auto has implemented IVANS Transformation Station a routing service that creates a “bridge” between Applied Systems agency management systems and State Auto’s agency extranet, AgentSite.

“Thanks to Transformation Station, Applied agencies will be able to process policy transactions and retrieve account information directly from AgentSite through their agency management systems,” said Joel Brown, State Auto vice president – director of personal
insurance.

Billing and claim inquiry, payment, and policy inquiry are available to all Applied Systems agents for personal and commercial lines. Endorsements are available for personal lines. In the second phase, planned for later this year, bridging of new business will be available for personal lines auto and home, as well as Wisconsin package policies.

According to Doug Johnston, executive vice president of interface services at Applied Systems, “We’re excited that the company (State Auto) is extending the functionality of real-time interface for independent agents.”

The State Auto Insurance Cos. write personal and commercial insurance products through more than 22,500 independent agents associated with approximately 3,000 agencies in 28 states.
