A disbarred Omaha attorney accused of keeping his clients’ insurance settlements has been sentenced to prison.
A judge sentenced Tom Gleason on Monday to two to three years behind bars.
Gleason pleaded guilty in September to two counts of theft and two counts of forgery. Eight other charges were dropped.
Gleason’s attorney, James Martin Davis, had said the $64,000 taken from clients’ trust accounts was deposited in Gleason’s personal bank account. Davis had argued that mental illness drove Gleason to take the money.
Gleason had faced up to 20 years in prison on each count.
The Nebraska Supreme Court disbarred Gleason in February 2006.
