Iowa Gov. Chet Culver has appointed the state’s first consumer advocate for insurance.
Angel Robinson will fill a post that only two other states, Florida and West Virginia, have on the books.
In a statement released on Oct. 22 Culver says Robinson will help Iowans with their concerns and work to make state government more efficient.
Robinson will lead a new bureau created by the Legislature within the Iowa Insurance Division.
According to the legislation, the office “shall be responsible for ensuring fair treatment of consumers by persons in the business of insurance.”
Robinson has been working for the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
