Federal Emergency Management Agency officials in Iowa say flood victims concerned about the safety of their manufactured homes may relocate to hotels as contractors retest air quality.
Once the formaldehyde levels are in, officials say flood victims may choose to remain in their mobile homes or move to other temporary housing.
FEMA has said all 558 of its homes in Iowa have tested under the state’s allowable formaldehyde level of 0.04 parts per million.
Concerns were raised after Cedar Rapids TV station KGAN found high levels of formaldehyde in some trailers.
Officials say a round of tests is scheduled for Nov. 10 and 11 by the Bureau Veritas Group. Results take up to 11 days.
