Nice to see some good news – a nice break of good luck for a hard-working guy. Also nice to see a corp doing things like this with profits, instead of just adding more bonuses to already rich top management.

TAXES!! I wonder if the sponsors of the giveaway pay the sales taxes on this Volvo rig (which would be nice), or if the winner is responsible, just like any other prize giveaway or game show? Judging from my own experience with “The Price Is Right” some 20 years ago, he’s gonna have to come up with the sales tax amount in order to “take possession” of the rig come late April; maybe his tax refund will cover it?

    Big Mike,
You can’t just leave me in suspense! What happened on the Price is Right? You win big at Plinko? Or did you score with one of Barker’s Beauties???

True, and isn’t there income tax too ?
But he already owns one rig, so maybe he can sell that one to pay the taxes and hopefully have some left over, so he will have some cash and the new rig.

Well, Franklin, it all started with the 1st item up at the beginning of the show (a pool table); getting up on stage got me the game 2 For the Price of 1, which I won (20″ TV and an armoire); the Showcase Showdown (on a spinoff into the Showcase); finally double-showcase (back when you had to be within $100 of your own showcase’s pricetag)–I was off by only $64! Final tally: $44,590 all merchandise, and not a Barker Beauty in sight!! (I’m kidding on that “Beauty” part, but it sounds snappy!)

The prize that would’ve given me pause was the deep-sea mini-fishing yacht and towing trailer, because I had to come up with the sales tax in order to take possession; fortunately, events transpired that prompted CBS to offer me a cash equivalent to the tune of $17k!

Glad I didn’t disappoint! There’s an open casting audition here in LA tomorrow for “Don’t Forget The Lyrics.” I MIGHT go for it…
