“The suit claims school officials failed to prevent the Oct. 16, 2008 attack near Henry Ford High School which followed a fight inside the building earlier that day.”

suing the school?! HAH! this will be tossed because if this incident happened outside school property it does not matter what happened earlier in the day. it’s like having hindsight/ 20-20. if it was a pushing/shoving match earlier in the day and the kids were separated and sent on the merry way to class. now, the kids we don’t know who started the push, we don’t know the words used. what we do know that someone at the end of the day decided to have a huge fight with more than just fists. that person decided to have more hate than just to let things cool down. it’s just like, would you have sued if they had sent the kids to jail or home and then it happened?

i feel sorry for the loss of life, but kids still to this day, do what they want. how many of them actually listen to adults? how many truly understand and listen? this is the major problem with our kids in today’s society. they think they know it all and don’t care. it’s not the schools fault nor the security for the school. off school grounds, you can’t hold them responsible. now, remember within a certain amount of yardage no gun is permitted in the school area anyways. they already prosecuted the actual criminals. go after them and their estate for your losses.

The problem is not the schools, it is the parents of the kids. If the kids were brought up properly, they would not even consider fighting or using guns, there is the problem, it’s the parents not the schools. Nobody wants to take responsibility for anything their children do, it’s always somebody elses fault.

wudchuck, you don’t have enough information to make a judgment like that. First, we don’t know what happened on the school grounds. Was it several against one? The school could be faulted for not following up by contacting the parents, not escorting them to their parents care. Also, there is past history of the kids to be considered. I agree that there was poor parenting somewhere but that doesn’t mean you ignore a volitile situation.

I blame the degradation of our society as a whole, and the failure of many parents to teach their children the value of human life. Putting blame on the schools is a classic example of someone shifting their responsibility for their own children, which is more likely than not something they’ve done their entire lives. Personal responsibility has become a four letter word these days.

The people were in their 20’s and late teens, do you really think they were involved inside the school? Doubtful. The entire problem with our society is just that, it’s always someone elses fault and it seems money is the only answer.

True, we’re becoming a society where everyone’s first name is “Not” and their last name is “Me”.

It’s time “some people” start taking an introspective look at why things like this happen. They point fingers at good people who try to prevent their children from acting live un-civilized animals. The only way to stop this is for “some people” to either stop reproducing, or taking parental responsibility for raising their kids to be respectful and responsible.
