“Consider it”???? This is a no brainer…. and include pedestrians, skateboarders, rollerskaters and skateboarders if they aren’t already.

Thank goodness. Now I hope, if the powers that be if they haven’t already, issue tickets to these people who ride their bicycles going down a one way street the wrong way. I have almost hit several of these folks when pulling out of my parking spot on the one way street I live on. This scared the daylights out of me. These people almost ended up on the hood of my car! Bicyclist should have the same rules of the road that motorized vehicles have!

I don’t know about Illinois, but here in California the laws apply to ALL vehicles operated on the road unless specifically excepted. My guess is that the same is true there and that they are just ignored(as many do here)

I would think the Chicago City Council had better perhaps more important things to do.

Scott if you lived here and knew about how indebt the city was, then you’d realize this is nothing more than a scheme to generate more revenue. Scheme or not, bikers need to follow the same rules as everyone else – they don’t think traffic laws apply to them and it’s a bunch of BS. If I have to stop at a red light then so do they.

Anyone who rides and texts should be an instant nominee for a Darwin award. They should be required to become an organ donor on the first offense so they aren’t a total waste.

What a life saving law that is being implemented. Since bicyclists can’t abide by the laws of the road without a cell phone, they surely can’t when talking on a cell! Talking on the phone while walking should also be outlawed. Some mall walkers have bumped me while talking on the phone. The craziness of it all!!! Don’t even let me get started on skateboarders!!!!

I agree with FSQ. I’m a cyclist, but I drive to and stay on the bike paths. As a driver, I don’t understand why the same cyclist who slows traffic by riding in the center of the lane, will blow through the stop. That’s an annoying double standard.
