A former Fargo insurance agent has been sentenced to three years in prison and five years on supervised probation for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from three women.
Fifty-seven-year-old Jeffrey Neppl was accused of using client money to fund his struggling personal businesses, which included his insurance business, a car dealership and a transport service for the elderly and disabled. He pleaded guilty to felony misapplication of entrusted property.
Neppl also was ordered to repay about $209,000. Authorities allege he actually stole more than $500,000 but say a 3-year statute of limitations presented some of the money from being included in the prosecution.
North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm revoked Neppl’s license to do business last fall.
