Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster has announced a $540,000 settlement with American Suzuki Motor Corp. that resolves allegations that Chad Franklin Suzuki, a former Suzuki dealer operating in the Kansas City area, used deceptive advertisements.
The settlement will provide restitution to Missouri consumers who purchased vehicles from one ofFranklin’s automotive dealerships in the Kansas City area, the AG’s office said.
According to Koster, the dealership ran deceptive advertisements from 2007 to 2008 that promised consumers they could purchase a Suzuki for “no payments for life” or for a monthly payment of less than $100.
The bulk of the settlement, $500,000, will be available for restitution. The remaining $40,000 will be payable to the state of Missouri to cover the costs of its investigation.
Consumers who purchased a vehicle from Chad Franklin Suzuki are encouraged to update their contact information with the Attorney General’s Office Consumer Protection Division.
