John M. Anderson and Steven E. Herman, Esq., have been named officers of the Utica Mutual Insurance Co., the Utica National Insurance Group’s principal member company, located in New Hartford, N.Y.
Anderson, who serves as director of Alternate Markets Development and works out of Utica National’s Founders Insurance location in Illinois, was named vice president. He was also named an officer of Founders Insurance.
He joined the company in 2012, bringing some 20 years of experience to the post, and having served in several capacities with Allstate Insurance Co. Most recently, he was director of Marketing (Specialty Lines). Anderson holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter professional designation.
Herman, who serves as associate general counsel in Utica National’s Legal department, was named assistant vice president. He joined the company in 2012, with more than 13 years of legal experience, having headed his own law practice for four years before serving as regulatory counsel for the Ohio Department of Insurance from 2005 to 2007.
In 2007, Herman began working as assistant general counsel for Nationwide Mutual in Columbus, Ohio, the position he held until joining Utica National.
