A western Ohio insurance company’s expansion should mean about 200 jobs for Dayton.
Springfield-based Assurant Special Property plans to open a satellite office in northeast Dayton. The Dayton Daily News reports that the office is expected to open in August. Jobs starting at $13 an hour will include customer service and document management.
Some 50 people will transfer initially from Springfield. New jobs will be added in both cities.
The JobsOhio agency approved a $100,000 workforce development grant to reimburse Assurant for some costs after the jobs are created. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority is extending a tax break for Assurant. The Dayton city office of economic development helped the company secure office space.
