March 6, 2014

A 93-year-old Hutchinson woman who died in May left a lasting legacy to her city’s animal shelter.

Hutchinson city officials say they were caught off guard by the $226,000 donation from Eula Fray.

KAKE-TV reports Fray lived most of her life in Hutchinson, where she worked as an insurance company secretary. She was divorced, with no children and no living family when she died.

The Hutchinson City Council voted to spend the donation on several shelter projects, with $134,000 going into a reserve fund for the shelter.
