The National Weather Service has that confirmed a rare December tornado touched down in western Ohio.
The weather service says the tornado had an estimated maximum wind speed of 65 mph and did not cause any injuries.
The Dayton Daily News reported the storm blew the roof off a construction business near the village of Arcanum.
Utility poles and power lines were down, and an area barn containing a truck and construction supplies collapsed.
The paper says the tornado was the sixth in the state this year but only the fifth December tornado on record since 1940.
In the South, an unusual outbreak of December tornadoes and other violent weather killed at least 11 people Wednesday in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee and damaged or destroyed dozens of homes.
