Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) Director Anita G. Fox has appointed Joseph Thomas as manager of the department’s Fraud Investigation Unit.
Thomas has 31 years of experience in law enforcement.
As manager of the Fraud Investigation Unit, Thomas will be charged with supervising the analysis and investigation of complaints alleging fraudulent activities in Michigan’s insurance and financial services markets and coordinating DIFS’ investigative efforts with the Attorney General’s Office and law enforcement.
Retired First Lieutenant Thomas most recently served as Michigan State Police Post Commander in Lansing from 2014 until his retirement in 2018.
The creation of DIFS’ Fraud Investigation Unit was announced in September 2018.
