People Moves: Acrisure Adds Marolda; Smeltzer Joins Jewelers Mutual; Rockford Mutual’s Johnson Retires

Acrisure, based in Grand Rapids, Mich., appointed Matthew Marolda as its first chief innovation officer.

Marolda will focus on business and growth opportunities aligned with Acrisure’s artificial intelligence (AI), data and technology platform.

Marolda previously has served as the chief analytics officer of Legendary Entertainment and as a member of the executive leadership team at Tulco Holdings, as well as president of WarnerMedia’s Applied Analytics division.

Jewelers Mutual Group

Jewelers Mutual Group in Neenah, Wisconsin, has added Mark Smelzer to its leadership team as chief content executive.

Smelzer comes to Jewelers Mutual from a nearly two-decades-long career as publisher of JCK magazine and JCKonline, widely considered the industry authority for the United States jewelry industry. During his tenure at JCK, he oversaw the publication’s evolution from a print magazine to a digital platform, and introduced the JCK Content Studio for content marketing.

Smelzer currently serves on the board for Jewelers’ Security Alliance and Jewelers Vigilance Committee.

Smelzer will lead the content development and strategies to bolster the Zing platform brand, increase understanding of customers’ preferences, and drive growth for the platform.

Rockford Mutual Insurance

Dina Johnson has retired from Rockford, Ill.-based Rockford Mutual Insurance Co. (RMIC) after 45 years with the company.

Johnson has been responsible for accounting of all investment activities, ceded reinsurance reporting, loss reserve reporting and analysis, and cash management in her role as controller.

Throughout her years with RMIC, she became a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society and the Chartered Global Management Accountant groups.

Johnson retired from RMIC on March 31, 2021. She will be pursuing new adventures and a long bucket list in her retirement.
