People Moves: Holmes Murphy Promotes 3; Plexus Groupe Names Fawcett Sr. VP; Komo Joins Missouri DCI

Waukee, Iowa-based Holmes Murphy named Ellen Willadsen chief innovation officer (CIO); Lindsay Chase assumed the role of the firm’s chief financial officer (CFO); and Susan Hatten has been promoted to the role of Holmes Murphy’s chief marketing officer (CMO).

Willadsen previously was CFO for 10 years. She joined Holmes Murphy in 1995, playing a key role in the organization’s growth, increasing the organization’s profitability, and providing invaluable counsel on major financial decisions. She was also instrumental in the startup of the Women Optimizing Women (WOW) initiative, which cares for the unique potential of women at Holmes Murphy and within the insurance industry.

Chase joined Innovative Captive Strategies (ICS), a subsidiary of Holmes Murphy in 2006 and, as a member of the executive team, has been instrumental to their success. In 2020, Chase was promoted to senior vice president, Finance with Holmes Murphy and will now assume the role of CFO.

Hatten joined Holmes Murphy in 2014 after leading business development for a marketing and advertising firm. She has been involved with Holmes Murphy sales, clients, marketing, and community culture, which is instrumental as she leads the marketing efforts of Holmes Murphy.

In addition, Willadsen and Hatten have been an integral part in building BTV — the industry’s first broker-led group and accelerator program co-founded by Holmes Murphy.

The Plexus Groupe

The Plexus Groupe, a Deer Park, Ill.-based commercial insurance brokerage and consulting firm, promoted Gerald Fawcett to senior vice president, Property and Casualty Practice leader. Fawcett will develop the strategic direction of the practice’s overall business objectives to drive improved client outcomes with leading insurance and risk management business practices. He is based in Illinois.

Prior to this promotion, Fawcett was vice president of Industry and Specialty Practices. He will continue to serve as a member of the senior leadership team.

Fawcett began his insurance career in Texas with Chubb as a graduate of the ACE Early Career Development Program where he was responsible for producing new business across all lines in the Southwest Region. He later worked as an underwriter on the ACE Risk Management team before focusing on their Global Casualty business where he was the U.S. Primary Casualty underwriter.

Missouri Department of Commerce & Insurance

Martin “Sam” Komo joined the Missouri Department of Commerce & Insurance as the new captive manager.

As captive manager, Komo serves Missourians by acting as the primary contact as it relates to captive insurance in Missouri. This position is responsible for developing and implementing methods that maximize the value that captive insurance brings to the state and for those captive insurance companies that choose to domicile here.

Komo’s professional experience includes previous leadership and management roles at the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Komo is also a former Missouri state representative who was formerly the ranking member on the Job Creation and Economic Development Committee.

Komo joins the DCI Insurance Company Regulation Division which monitors and analyzes the financial condition of insurance companies licensed in Missouri to ensure they can pay claims. The division also certifies and collects premium taxes due the state.
