Zurich North America’s Machinery and Equipment Breakdown program (Zurich MEB), which has provided machinery breakdown coverages for more than 80 years, is using advanced online technology to partner with other property-casualty insurance carriers that want to offer boiler and machinery coverage and service to their customers without building their own capability.
Participating insurance carriers are given access to a wide range of sophisticated tools and databases available on the program’s Web site (www.zurichmeb.com), which are designed to streamline and facilitate the underwriting, risk engineering and claims processes.
Through the program, Zurich MEB reinsures boiler and machinery risk, including physical damage, resultant damage, extra expense, business interruption, expediting expenses and production machinery, for its partner carriers.
Zurich’s boiler and machinery risk engineers provide jurisdictional inspections and are trained to help policyholders minimize their loss exposures and business costs. Risk engineering services are provided by Zurich Services Corporation.
