CDS Business Mapping, a provider in online hazard mapping for the insurance industry, announced the release of version 2 of the CDS Hail Model.
The model predicts the severity of hail for any location in the Continental United States. Key additions to the model include a new Hail Score, as well as the average number of storms per year. The model is based upon 45 years of historical hail data. The model is used by insurers to evaluate and price property insurance. CDS has also released a report on its findings from the model, entitled “CDS Hail Model, Discussion of Findings.”
Among the findings: The 5 metro areas with the most hail activity over the past 45 years are:
1. Oklahoma City, OK
2. Kansas City, KS/MO
3. Denver, CO
4. Tulsa, OK
5. Amarillo, TX
