National Insurance Task Force (NITF) Director Todd Pittman has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA).
The NAAIA works to create a viable support system for African-American insurance professionals to enhance careers in the industry. The organization’s mission is to strengthen the presence of African-Americans in the profession and create opportunities that lead to competition on a more level playing field. The group holds educational forums and professional development seminars to reach out to all directly and indirectly involved in the insurance industry.
As a board member, Pittman will take a leadership role in broadening the association’s reach with insurers, from executives to agents.
“African-American insurers can play a significant role in bringing affordable and accessible insurance products to our nation’s lower-income and minority communities,” said Pittman. “This echoes the mission of the National Insurance Task Force and our objective to improve insurance services in lower-income and minority communities, and I think this will be a very productive partnership.”
“Mr. Pittman’s participation on the board will help usher NAAIA into a new phase,” said its board president, Roosevelt Haywood III. “NAAIA’s plans for the next year include developing a national on-line registry of Black insurance professionals and incorporating more local chapters.”
