May 18, 2006

General Star Management Co. has expanded its miscellaneous healthcare facilities professional liability program to include medical spas whose focus is on cosmetic; complementary/alternative; or preventative/wellness therapies. The addition of medical spas marks another expansion of classes eligible for the General Star program. The program provides professional liability and general liability coverages, as well as coverage for the medical director’s administrative duties and clinical work at the medical spa.

Primary limits up to $1million/$3million; $5million/$5million follow form excess are available; minimum premium is $7,500; minimum pre-claim deductibles as low as $2,500 depending on the risk.

Coverage is available on a non-admitted basis through General Star’s designated surplus lines brokers. Coverage is available in all states except Connecticut, by General Star Indemnity Co. In Connecticut, coverage is provided by General Star National Insurance Company. Both companies are rated “A++” by A.M. Best and “AAA” by Standard and Poor’s. Coverage is currently not available in New Mexico.
