problem with the question on independent bid, is how long would it have taken if they had to wait on those bids? 30 – 60 days or more?….in a disaster zone of this nature, we need to be careful of whom we choose to care and reasonable pricing for items…when you have thousands of folks that need assistance, it the matter of time to give them protection and not the delaying of it…
Gee, the government wastes money? Who would’ve ever thought? I watch network news and they tell me that government is good and always works “for the people.” I guess when backroom bureaucrats skim off thousands of $$$ for themselves, this is the best thing “for the people,” huh? Because we all know that once a person acquires the label of “government worker,” he not only loses all moral flaws but also becomes omniscient in how millions of people should conduct their daily transactions.
Aren’t there any adults in this administration? How can they allow such waste at FEMA yet the media keeps blaming the residents for misuse of government money? Another question is how did the governor of Mississippi get more recovery money than Louisana considering Louisana had far more damage? Just curious because I’m trying to track my tax dollars at work….
I read, “Katrina damaged or destroyed 134,000 homes and 10,000 rental units in Mississippi alone, according to the report. The report does not address spending or provide statistics for Louisiana, which also had widespread damage because of the 2005 storm.”
How did you determine that Mississippi received more Federal funds than Louisiana??
LA now owns most of New Orleans.
They Did a BUY BACK PLAN.
The bought most of the homes from the Katrina Victims…Then gave them a percentage of the $150,000 maximum grant.
MS gave their people the $150,000 Grant….
Then let them do whatever they wanted with their home.
What’s missing in our government is an Office of Fiscal Accountability to monitor major contracts and expenditures involving federal monies. Heads should roll and fat cat government retirement benefits forfeited over the recurring waste of millions of taxpayer dollars. Prevention isn’t a word politicians understand. More money are their favorite words. This is a vortex that will bankrupt this country. I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore.
Here’s the number – (202) 224-3121. That’s the Capitol Switchboard. Give them your zip code and they’ll put you in touch with your representative.
If you still feel like that’s not enough – go to http://www.votesmart.org . There’s information (often including email addresses) for lawmakers on the state and federal levels.
Don’t be ignored. We have to tell these creeps we’re tired of their lies and incompetence. Demand ethics, responsibility and accountability! We deserve it.
A real bad problem with our state Rep.
He has connections everywhere and he does whatever he wants to do.
He is arrogant & flamboyant about his power and connections….
