Who’s Worth What in the Independent Agency System?

February 19, 2008

Insurance Journal is polling insurance agents and brokers nationwide in its annual quest to find out who’s worth what in the independent agency system. Nearly 1,000 agencies nationwide have already responded to IJ’s exclusive Agency Salary Survey. The survey results will be compiled for a special report in the March 10, 2008, issue of Insurance Journal magazine.

The survey provides valuable information on insurance agency compensation trends, and takes only minutes to complete. All survey responses and information will remain strictly confidential.

In last year’s Agency Salary Survey, nearly half of the agencies that responded to the survey reported that salary levels stayed right where they were in 2006 compared to 2005. Even so, more agencies reported giving salary increases in 2006 than in 2005. Respondents to last year’s survey also reported that producer commission rates in 2006 soared above rates in 2005.

While last year’s survey asked agents and brokers their thoughts on the future of contingent compensation, this year’s survey inquires on the impact of a possible recession on the independent agency system.

Deadline for the 2008 Agency Salary Survey is Monday, Feb. 25.
