Back when I was a teen, they said that tanning was safer than the sun because you didn’t get burned. I tanned, even worked at a tanning salon…guess who got melanoma?

I don’t think that this is a duh – people really believe all sorts of crud.

I’m in favor of the states that are looking to make tanning beds illegal for teens. It’s hard for teens to make rational decisions when it comes to things like this, because they have that ‘it will never happen to me attitude’. Who am I kidding – plenty of adults do too. These days, I just don’t understand the mentality of anyone who thinks a tan that lasts a week or two is worth the risk.

I believe all those years ago, there was supposed to be a parent signature if the customer was underage. I just lied. Teenagers are known to be bright about these kinds of things, especially girls wanting to look good.

I sure regret it now. And the big chunks removed from my leg do not look good!

Very sorry to hear that x-sun bather — I was just lucky to escape the same fate (nice scar on my belly due to a basal cell carcinoma) but never used a tanning bed — just baby oil & rays. I can hear the lawyers’ phones ringing already. Self-tanners have given me a much better tan now than I’ve ever had & well worth the aggravation & zero liability!

DANG IT!! West Bend has enough problesm without this. Their NSI unit is huge in tanning bed risks, and they give tanning bed GL coverage for cancer. Those cheeseheads were riding high, and now they’re sinking fast.
