Stephen Whelan has been named vice president of commercial and financial risks for the The Hartford Financial Services Group’s Hartford Financial Products (HFP) division. Whelan will report to Michael Dandini, who was named senior vice president and head of HFP in June.
HFP underwrites directors and officers (D&O), employment practices liability (EPL), errors and omissions (E&O), and crime insurance.
In this newly created position, Whelan will oversee HFP’s entire domestic insurance portfolio for larger risks, including commercial, financial services, diversified, REIT and transactional risk accounts. Whelan joins The Hartford from American International Group (AIG), where he served in a number of roles of increasing responsibility, including, most recently, executive vice president and senior regional executive in AIG’s executive liability area.
