Matt, Here are a few examples of “CHANGE” you can’t believe in!

    1. 1.4 trillion deficit for 1st 9 months of Obama’s presidency. vs 430 Billion record deficit for Bush 2008.

    2. Tim Gietner Treasury secretarty who didnt pay his taxes. vs Paulson who did pay his.

    3. Whitehouse Press Secretary who idolizes Chinese Dictator Mau Se Tung.

    4. Commnuncations Csar – Jones who is a self admited devote Communist. (Quit)

    5. Charlie Rangel Ways and Means Committee Chairman – Tax evasion charges pending. (Or should be)

    6. Transparency of Government- Still waiting for this one. Right now Senate behind closed doors writing our new health Insurance plan.

    7. Taxes are going to sky rocket. Tax on energy, Cap and Tax plan. Tax on Soda, Tax on health insurance (Cadilac plans) elimination of cap on Social Security Taxes. Many more Taxes being considered.

    8. Attack on news networks who question this administration and abuse of power by threatening insurance industry with legislation for questioning the industries study which shows health premiums would go up under the Baucus healthcare plan.

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said that this is more proof of how he inept he is on his own, and that he’s really controlled by smarter men behind the
    scenes?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC in the middle of a terrible economic crisis, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current with their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had steadfastly refused to release his educational records, would you have nodded to yourself and thought, “What is he hiding that he doesn’t want the public to know”?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word “advice” would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and “potatoe” as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in lower
Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, explain to me again, exactly what is it about Obama that you feel makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He’s done all this in just 8 months, so you’ll have three years and four months to come up with an answer.

The extent and expense of legal wranglings that came about as a result of an artist painting a poster of a president modeled after a generic photograph of him simply demonstrates the absurd outcome of our current handling of intellectual property in the legal system.

What a joke. What a waste of time and money. We make a mockery of ourselves with this garbage.

What is this definition of “socialism”? And do you think that Bush was a socialist for bailing out Wall Street?

Wow that was a long list of strangely minor things, for the most part anyway.

While one could hammer on about minor things like Bush finishing a childrens story after the country was attacked, or mispronouncing “nucular” [sic]…

My main point is BOTH of these clowns are:

    –Pro wars
    –Pro bail outs
    –Pro big government

They both have pretty similar policies.

Not saying I think Obama is Our Great Leader. I do not, I think he is a liar.

But what I am saying is if you think Bush was a great conservative leader, then you are frankly smoking something, or you refuse to pay attention to the truth.

For a so called “conservative”, Bush sure did act like a big government liberal. But none of the conservatives were willing to call him out on it. There were no tea party rallies when Bush passed stimulus and bailouts. Why not?

Obama and Bush could not be more different. When Bush said something, he meant what he said and said what he meant. You always knew where he stood. When Bush sent troops he sent them to win not because he wants to look like a leader, Bush was a leader. Obama is a rookie who cant give a speech without a teleprompter because he doesnt know what he stands for. As with Bush reading that story to the kids. My goodness, I think he was collecting his thoughts as the whole nation was at that terrible time.

    1) OK, so Bush had a Terrible, Ridiculous, Huge Government deficit. And Obama (also inheriting past actions of Bush) only made it WORSE. But BOTH were TERRIBLE in this area.

    2) Paulson and Timmy are kin. You can’t really contrast these two very much!

    3) Have no idea what you are talking about here. I think all WHPS’s are snakes. I hated Clinton’s, I hated Bush’s and I hate Obama’s.

    4) No idea about self admitted communists. You do realize though, that Ronald Reagan appointed the first “Czar” (drug). Also Czar is a only a poorly picked word for advisor I don’t think they have any actual powers.

    5) Rangel is a scum, hope he is strung up on ethics charges, which will never happen.

    6) Bush invoked the state secrets doctrine often and without hesitation. Obama said he would change that, and he didn’t. So in this regard, again, they are exactly the same.

    7) Agree with you we will probably see an increase in tax. So in this regard yes they are different. But I believe McCain was proposing similar taxes (like tax on employer provided health plans). At least McCain was up front about it. Obama said he would not tax them then said he would after the election.

    8) All I will say here is if you get your news from CNN, Fox News, or MSNBC, you are being herded around a pen. They aren’t journalists they are entertainers. None of them can or should be respected. They produce news on a 5th grade level and are our great national embarrassment. The british publications currently do more in depth reporting on American issues than the American publications do. How sad is that?

Under it all you cannot avoid the sad fact that Conservatism is Dead. Bush was a big government liberal in Texan clothing (what happened to that ranch, by the way?). And Obama is an even bigger government liberal, not in any disguise.

They are two sides of the same coin.

You are in denial if you think otherwise.

You are still talking about personality differences and differences in mannerisms. I am talking about policy. I have not seen any change in policy. That is all I am saying.

You can talk about O taking his wife on a date, or Bush taking the most vacation ever, or O using a teleprompter, or Bush not using one (and probably should have), or whatever else you want. But you don’t want to talk about policy because you will prove yourself wrong– These guys are two sides of the same coin, and they are both bad for our nation.

Until we shake the US versus THEM mentality of our two party system we will continue our downward spiral out of world power. After we “vote those socialists out” (do you even know what that means!?!) in 2012 we will be screaming to “vote those facists out” (do people even know what that means!??) in 2016.

    1. Bushes record deficit 456 Billion,
Obamas deficit 1.42 Trillion in 8 Months.
    2. Paulson paid his Taxes, Gietner Did not.
    3. ?
    4. Vance Jones is a Communist, Self proclaimed. (Quit under pressure.)
    5. Yes Rangel is a scum. I agree.
    6. Bush invoked state secrets as he should when at war.
    7. Obama has not seen a tax he didnt like. Bush never liked a tax and McCain didnt propose any of the taxes we are seeing out of Obama, Ried and Pelosi.
    8. To put Fox news along side of CNN,MSNBC. Shows how out of touch with reality you are. Fox is the only news organization left who is actually asking the tough questions of our politicians. The others are in love with Obama and as the current white house press Secretary said yesterday, they control the agenda and information with news organizations.

Conservatism will return soon. 2012 cant get here soon enough. If you need to learn what “Socialism” is just watch what our Government is proposing with healthcare.

    Policy differences.

War – One was leading to win a war, one is following and trying to find a way not to lose it.

Tax – One likes high taxes the other did not.

Economy – One thinks regulation and confiscation is the right direction. The other believed in a free market capitalist system of small government. Yes he let the liberal 2006 congress spend way too much.

Foriegn Policy – One believes in a world order and making sure everyone likes us, whether its good for our security or not. The other stood up to dictators and didnt care what the useless UN came up with.

Bush as a free market small government proponent?

If Bush was free market/small gov’t, why the bailout? Why wars AND tax breaks (Guns AND butter)? Why the soaring deficit?

And don’t get me started on Fox News. Their most recent poll asked “Why is the White House attacking Fox News?” The only possible answers were “They want to shoot the messenger”, “They don’t have a good case to make”, “They confuse news and opinion”, and “I don’t know”.

They ragged on O for taking his wife out but never seemed to mind Bush taking vacation.

Bush took about NINE HUNDRED VACATION DAYS during his presidency. 9 0 0. And Fox never seemed to think it relevant to point that out. But Obama can’t take his wife to dinner.

I haven’t taken nine hundred vacation days EVER. I bet not even the oldest of IJ’s readers have, either. I sure would like to spend 30% of my time on vacation. I bet you would too!

Y’all are answering like I am some bleeding heart liberal. I am a REAL conservative. Conservative = LIMITED foreign intervention (get your history book, it is the truth). Conservative = LIMITED government. Conservative = SOCIAL FREEDOM. Conservative = States Rights. Since when did conservatism mean pro-war, anti-freedom and pro-big government?

I am just saying if you think Bush fits the definition of “conservative” then you need to look up what that means in a historical context.

I would never and have never voted for a Democrat. All I want is a real, legitimate conservative. That which we have not seen for a long time.

Even the libertarian candidates are smelly garbage (Bob Barr I am looking at you!)
